For auction is a tourist-class dinner menu from the SS Strathenden, dated August 30, 1950. The SS Strathenden was operated by Peninsula & Orient Steam Navigation Company (P&O), a major cruise ship firm based in Great Britain and the oldest cruise line in the world. P&O merged with Carnival Cruise Line in 2003. Passengers dined on their choice of poached halibut, medallions of sweetbreads and ham, or roast pork. Meals included a salad, vegetables, soup, dessert, cheese, and beverages. used primarily on runs between Great Britain, Australia, and the Orient
. This ship
served as a troop transport during World War II
, primarily for Australian troops heading for the European and African campaigns. It returned
to commercial passenger service after the war
. The
SS Strathenden
was sold to Greek interests in 1964 and was
renamed
first the
Henrietta Latsi
and then the
Marianna Latsi
; it was scrapped in 1969.

. It has no writing or markings. There is a small 1/8 inch tear at the top of the back cover, and it displays some minor soiling.
