This is sculptor Tony Cipriano’s stunning tribute to Lon Chaney, Jr. as “The Wolf Man” from Universal’s 1941 classic, a large-scale portrait bust that practically snarls with life.
Cipriano produced this tribute back in 2012 as a limited edition of solid cast resin, complete with a handsome pedestal base and slickly sculpted nameplate. The castings are clean and slick, with even the flaws under the chin re-sculpted in by Cipriano’s hand. It’s a powerful piece that crisply captures Chaney in his signature role, with a spot-on portrait of classic Wolf make-up, just the right snarling attitude, and perfect furious hair.
Roughly 1/3 scale, the bust stands 6 ¼” tall x 4” wide on its own, and 9 ½” tall atop its pedestal base. Also know that this piece was purchased directly from Cipriano Studios at the time of its release – both bust and base are signed and dated on the bottom by the sculptor: “Tony Cipriano February 2012.”
